02/24/2016 – Lunch and Learn – Evaluating a Non-Profit

Orange County Advisors in Philanthropy (OCAiP) invites members to our February 24th Lunch and Learn discussion on “Evaluating a Nonprofit”.

Whether you are considering making your own gift or supporting your clients’ philanthropy, understanding and evaluating the nonprofit before making a donation is an essential part of the process.

• How can you get a full picture of the nonprofit and their effectiveness?
• What is their positive impact on the issue or in the community?
• Do they have capable leadership and staff?
• How are their programs funded and how might your donation be used?
• How much could or should be used for overhead, facilities, salaries, program services, etc.?
• Can you be sure that funds raised are actually going to their programs and other initiatives?

Join us and learn how to engage with a nonprofit and ask the right questions about their work and impact to advance the causes that you are passionate about. Strive to get a clear, true picture of an organization’s effectiveness and impact, build trust and confidence in their work, and share your passion with others to create a more engaged community.

This lunch discussion is sponsored the Orange County Community Foundation and will be facilitated by Todd Hanson, Vice President of Donor & Community Engagement.  Todd provides support to some of Orange County’s most generous families, helping them achieve their philanthropic goals and inspiring effective and impactful giving. He works with donors to develop personalized giving plans, arrange agency site visits, organize presentations on community issues and provide research reports on nonprofits. Todd visits more than 125 local charities each year to stay informed on the latest programs, services and results.
