Topic: The Optivest Model – Activating Giving Within a For-Profit Wealth Management Firm

July’s Leading Advisors Roundtable featured Mark Van Mourick, President and CEO of Optivest, Inc. In addition to his business achievements (see below), he is the founder and president of the Optivest Foundation which has donated millions of dollars over the years to Christian ministries. The Optivest companies each donate 10 percent of gross annual revenue to charities around the world, and Mark encourages all employees and clients to bring forward their ideas for charitable giving.

The Optivest Foundation is a working example of a successful philanthropic model. In this luncheon, Mark will outline the anatomy of the Foundation; how and why it was setup, ways the Foundation has integrated client and employee engagement, and strategies developed to take target goals from the blueprint stage into a working reality. Mark will walk through challenges and conflicts his team faced alongside helpful solutions developed, as an outline for businesses that desire to effectively increase their philanthropic commitments on a consistent basis.

Mark Van Mourick Mark Van Mourick has 27 years of experience as the President and CEO of Optivest, Inc., a boutique wealth management firm managing the irreplaceable capital of wealthy families across the United States. He is the Chairman of the Board of Optivest Properties which operates more than 50 commercial properties and mini storage facilities in seven states, and the co-founder of National Storage Affiliates (NSA) – the country’s largest private self-storage REIT. Mark holds various securities licenses including FINRA Series 7, Series 63 and Series 24 as a registered investment advisors with the SEC, is a graduate of the University of Southern California and serves on the executive boards of numerous companies and nonprofits.
